Impossible you say?
We saw the Joy Formidable recently. They really rock out live. They're better live actually than on their records. Funny thing though I've noticed at shows recently. Nobody dances. Well, almost nobody dances. Most of the crowd just stands there stone still before the music as if they were watching it on you tube. The Joy Formidable skedaddled immediately after the show, no encore. That happened at the last show I went to too. I suspect that wouldn't have happened if the crowd were a little more into it. C'mon Portland. Rock out!
In D.C. recently, I visited the Jack Rose Dining Saloon. 1400 whiskies. It was hard to leave.
I picked up Led Zeppelin III for $9 at the Portland Flea For All! Rock out.
The DIY, mortarless BBQ PIT. Summer fun.
Ran across a blacksmith yesterday who set up shop with a portable forge in Monument Square in Portland. He narrated as he worked and fielded questions with alacrity. It was fascinating to watch. Apparently he was there for Portland's first friday art walk.
He's from the Portland Forge. And, a quick visit to that site reveals he was cited by the city yesterday for taking up too much space. Boo on you City of Portland.
She wrote the book! It's about raccoon pirates.
It's hard to believe they'll grow thirty more feet by summer.
Having just rolled off a very long contract, I've finally found a little time to play around with new and interesting tech. To that end, I wrote up a small (but sweet, IMHO) realtime list web application using the Meteor framework.
