Signs of Portland's building boom are everywhere. If you spend any time on this site you'll know I'm not shy about posting pictures of it here 😬. The renovation of Mercy Hospital on State Street has special significance for use as both of our kids were born here.
We biked over Veteran's bridge to Lincold & Maine. It's a good example of where greater Portland Maine is in terms of development. It's an electric bike shop, bagel cafe and vermouth distillery! Not quite Portland or Austin level weird, but getting there.
This eye-catching sculpture popped up in Payson Park. From a distance it invoked War of the Worlds. Closer, at the tail end Covid, it took on the look of a virus. Closer still, you'll see it's made entirey of marine waste.
Behind the ever-expanding Foreside Development are some remnants of old Portland that have yet to be cleared away. We toured them, and the new development, by bike.
We hit Saturday's Farmers' Market at Deering Oaks Park. We took a second to recreate a picture we've often taken of the kids climbing the stone wall at the back gate.
I tried to capture the way I feel in the disorienting and diminishing haze of a global pandemic, political strife and war. Ok...that's really just my reflection as I grab a pre-work joe at the Thames Street Speckled Axe!
Rosa's junior prom. What better place to take prom pictures than on Portand's Eastern Prom!
It was a great day for some backyard gymnastics.
We spent Mother's Day at Kettle Cove.
